EVGA Offers a USB 3.0 Option Without Forcing a System Upgrade

Submitted by: The BURNED iN Crew

evga-pcie-usb3Maybe you're not quite ready to drop a benjamin or 3 on a new mobo that will give you the latest and greatest options. And if you're a die-hard enthusiast, getting a new mobo opens the door to upgrade, well, everything else inside the case. Heck, while you're at it, don't forget to pickup that new enclosure you've been drooling over.

There is a point here. Unless you have a money tree, this isn't always an option every time a new technology is released. In fact, if you did a complete upgrade everytime a new protocol or feature were released, you would be spending most of your time and money on upgrading hardware. And you would have no time to enjoy any of it.

So, to help eleviate our enthusiast urge to do a full upgrade, just to get USB 3.0 ports, EVGA has introduced a nice option to fill the void until we are ready to ditch our current system.  The EVGA EU30 PCI-E card offers two USB 3.0 ports and should fill that void until the big upgrade bug bites you in the near future.

EVGA Dual Socket LGA 1366 Motherboard

"EVGA's crown jewel for the CES show has been pixellized and detailed just a couple of days away from its official unveiling at CES 2010 show in Las Vegas. This server hybrid has no less than seven PCI-Express slots and supports LGA 1366 Xeon CPUs.

In addition to the rest of specs and those seven red PCI-Express x16 slots, the new motherboard will also feature support for USB 3.0 as well as support for SATA 6.0Gbps, something that we seen quite pften from most major motherboard manufacturers in few last weeks of the old year. " source

Our Take: Just the though of decking out this board with a pair of Core i7 975 chips has our hearts skipping a beat (and our wallets running for cover).

EVGA Releases On-the-Fly Overclocking Tool

Submitted by: The BURNED iN Crew

EVBot

"The EVGA EVBot is a useful tool for tweakers and overclockers to maximize their system and have fun tweaking their EVGA products. With the ability to adjust on the fly voltages, clock frequencies and much more, the EVGA EVBot unleashes the full potential of your select EVGA motherboards or graphics cards! Optimistic Booster allows EVBot to take over and increase CPU frequency for a short amount of time. (ex. up 4MHz ever 4 seconds, down 3MHz every 3 seconds) This allows you to obtain the highest performance possible for a benchmark run." source

Our Take: Interesting approach to overclocking that, if pulled off correctly, might trump fumbling around the antiquated BIOS.
