Perhaps HIS is a Top Gun fan, but this company definitely has a need, a need for speed. HIS today announced its 6870 Turbo, a factory overclocked card that gooses the core clockespeed to 920MHz. That's faster than any other HD 6870 card we've seen yet.

In addition to speed, the 6870 Turbo supports Eyefinity technology and comes ready for 3D, provided you're willing to don a pair of funny looking glasses and have a compatbile monitor.

So how much when will it cost and when will it be available? Good questions, both of them, neither of which HIS has yet answered.

"Intel's back in its familiar saddle today with the unveiling of a pair of new CPUs, marking the start of a new K-series that will cater to the overclocker inside all of us. The Core i7-875K is a 2.93GHz quad-core unit, which can scale heights of 3.6GHz via Turbo Boost, or even higher if you have the patience, tenacity and appropriate cooling to make it happen

Even more affordable will be the Clarkdale-based Core i5-655K, which trots along at 3.2GHz (with a 3.46GHz gallop option), but response to it was a little more muted. It's a dual-core CPU, after all, and if you don't plan on exploiting that unlocked multiplier to achieve some madness above 4GHz, you might be better off looking elsewhere." Source

"Powercolor has announced its overclocked Radeon HD 5830 card that will be a part of Powercolor's PCS+ series. The card uses the same cooler we've seen on Powercolor's HD 5850 PCS and features a slight factory overclock.

The card still has 1120 Stream processors, 256-bit memory interface and runs at 825MHz for the GPU and 4200MHz for 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Just for comparison, the reference card works at 800MHz for the GPU and 4000MHz for the same amount of memory. " source

"AMD has released an HD video chronicling the exploits of Phenom II overclockers who managed to shatter the infamous 7GHz clock barrier.

'This video depicts the herculean efforts of the vastly under-appreciated overclocking community,' AMD spokesperson Simon Solotko told TG Daily. 'These people do lots of great work, but unfortunately, overclockers typically make less in a year than a tennis star does for one game. To us, though, overclockers are the heros of the HPC world.'" source
