OWC is a relatively small company, only really covering the storage market in
any breadth. And even then, they only have a few SandForce SSDs and some
other miscellaneous storage products. However, they seem to be set on
expanding their product lineup, and today they have announced the
release of the OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro Qx2. That's a mouthful isn't it?
Internally, the Mercury Elite-AL Pro Qx2 has four SATA-I/II (that's up to 3Gb/s) ports. No SATA-III is a bit disappointing; just don't expect to build ultra-fast SF-2500 drive arrays in it. Externally, You get USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and eSATA. Again, lack of USB 3,0 is a bit disappointing. The enclosure supports hardware RAID 0,1,5, and 10.
Pricing for the enclosure alone is at $299.99, but can be bought with HDDs pre-installed, all the way up to a huge 12TB for 1,279.99.
